Maintenance

Our rates for website maintenance typically start around the $30 per hour mark. These rates are always negotiable, and will depend both on the type of maintenance required, as well as frequency. Typically, a small minimum monthly amount (or retainer) will be written into any maintenance contract.

Web Site Maintenance Policy:

  1. We maintain a current local backup copy of your web site.
  2. "Maintenance" is defined as keeping the web site current. It is not intended to be a redesign or revamp.
  3. Updates are completed within 36 hours of the time they are received, except weekends and holidays. Updates received after 4:00pm PST may not be completed until the next business day unless prior arrangements have been made.
  4. Time is based on actual total time involved in completing the updates at the time of billing (usually the fourth week of the month). There is a one-half hour minimum charge for updates made during any given monthly billing cycle. If no updates or changes have been requested, there is no monthly fee for maintenance.
  5. Although we make every effort to make accurate changes, it is the client's responsibility to review updates and notify us of any necessary changes that need to be made. We do not charge for changes that are our fault. However, if a change needs to be made due to client error, the regular hourly update fees will be charged.
  6. We reserve the right to distinguish between "updates" and "new design". New design work is charged at our design rate of $60/hour.
  7. Updates should be provided electronically (by email) as much as possible. Attachments should be in .txt or .doc (Word) format. Pictures need to be .jpg or .gif. Updates may also be sent by postal mail or by fax. These require retyping data or scanning photos and will cost more to complete the changes.
  8. Your web site may be using third-party components (web site trackers, weather info-feeds, etc.). We have no control over what third party sites do and take no responsibility for loss of information due to actions of these sites. Any changes to your site stemming from regulations of these third party components will be billed at the normal hourly rate.

Pricing

Website Design & Development

We have learned in the past that it is difficult to provide a static pricing scheme because every website is different. The cost will depend on the requirements of your website.

For example do you need an e-commerce site to sell products or services or do you just need a informational website? Do you need a photo gallery for your website? Factors like these must be taken into account when preparing a quote for your project.

Designs for small, simple web sites range from $800 up to $1,000. This price includes custom template design, site architecture, and several standard web pages as well as registering your domain name, arranging e-mail accounts and web hosting set-up. Mary Ann Moore:

As I’m a poet it’s best to leave website creation to the experts. Kathleen Wilson is just that. All of the elements I wanted got included in my new website complete with a slide show. Kathleen showed me various options from which to choose and I’m really pleased at the look of everything:  clean and lively. There are various aspects to my writing business and they were all looked after by Kathleen who attends to the details and does them promptly. She taught me how to make my own changes which is really a bonus.  The whole process was painless and in fact, fun and easy. I’m very proud to send people to my beautiful and easily navigable website to show them what I do.

Visually Impactful Sites

Nanaimo Art Gallery:

Feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive since Nanaimo Art Gallery launched its new website earlier this year. Working with Kathleen at Graphic Details was terrific—she helped us to identify what the Gallery needs now in terms of its online presence, and created a user-friendly, visually impactful website that will evolve to meet our future needs. I very much appreciate Kathleen’s professionalism, efficiency, patience, and creativity. I would gladly recommend Graphic Details.

Sarah Clark Design:
I am extremely grateful to have connected with Kathleen Wilson of Graphic Details about three years ago. My previous web designer closed her business and I was destined to be without someone, which was troubling.
Having researched various web companies, I was always dismayed with the quality of the designs and lack of functionality. Then I found Kathleen, and in her, discovered just what I needed - someone who could see the big picture on the design side, and work with the endless details of the background workings of a good site.
As part of my success team, Kathleen supports my business in such a critical way, taking care of things that I can't do. She is responsive to my needs, is ready with thoughtful solutions, and is very easy to work with.
Thank you Kathleen, it's a pleasure to have you on my team.
